MCG Redevelopment and Event Overlay

Project Description

The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) was redeveloped prior to hosting the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and Athletics Competition for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.  As a staff member of the M2006 Organising Committee, OPG Associate Larry Sengstock was tasked to:

• Provide expert advice on design of redevelopment of Northern stand to meet requirements for hosting the 2006 Commonwealth Games event overlay; and
• Provide guidance on the requirements for the insertion of the athletics track as the field of play for the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
