Project Description
Moira Shire Council engaged Otium Planning Group to work with the Yarrawonga community to plan for the development of a multi-court sports stadium capable of meeting the indoor sports and local schools needs in Yarrawonga now and into the future. This project forms part of Council’s strategy of investing in sport and recreation facilities as a key ingredient to improving their community’s health and wellbeing, and the development of an indoor sports stadium was identified as a high priority in the Moira Recreation Strategy.
The identified site at the Yarrawonga Showgrounds will provide an indoor sports facility for several schools, sporting and community groups in Yarrawonga.Following a thorough planning process that assessed the demand and supply of indoor sports in Yarrawonga and Mulwala, consultation with key stakeholders and the local community, the consideration of site options, a concept design process and development of cost plans, a four-court indoor sports stadium was recommended.
The project is proposed in two stages. The first stage will deliver a two court multi use indoor stadium, with provision for expansion for an additional two courts for stage two should demand be realised from the community.
Council is currently working to secure funding to enable commencement of the project.
